The Detroit Lions appear to have won over Colin Cowherd

While the Detroit Lions are currently 1-3 and coming off a 48-45 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the team appears to have made quite the impression on one high-profile analyst.

Detroit fell behind 38-23 heading into the fourth quarter before Jared Goff threw three fourth-quarter touchdown passes — one each to Josh Reynolds, T.J. Hockenson and Justin Jackson — to pull within three points with 1:06 left in the game.

Lions’ kicker Dominik Eberle attempted an onside kick moments later, but Seattle recovered and subsequently ran the clock out. It was the team’s third loss this year, all coming in one-score games.

Though in defeat, Fox Sports radio host and Volume Sports founder Colin Cowherd tweeted about his enjoyment watching the Lions following Sunday’s game.

Cowherd’s latest tweet comes approximately two weeks after he labeled the Lions as a potential NFC sleeper team in terms of competing for a wild card spot in the playoffs.

“I know it’s crazy, but I look at that division right now — Detroit’s got something offensively,” Cowherd said two weeks ago on his radio show, The Herd. “I don’t know, I think they have a chance to be a wild card playoff team. I watch that offense, there’s something there.”

Cowherd’s statements still ring true two games later. The Lions currently have the No. 1 offense in the NFL, averaging 436.8 yards per game. They also lead the league in total yards (1,747) and points scored (140), and they rank fifth in passing yards (1,091), and sixth in rushing yards (656).

Quarterback Jared Goff is also tied for the NFL lead with 11 passing touchdowns while running back Jamaal Williams leads the league with six rushing touchdowns. Detroit has totaled 385 yards or more of total offense in every game this season, including 400 yards or more in the last three games.
