The Dolphins are Doing the Right Thing by Keeping De’Von Achane Out of Trade Talks
It’s true that the Miami Dolphins have lost a whole lot of star power on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. Their two most skilled wide receivers from a season ago — Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle — are with the team no longer, as Miami released the former and traded the latter to the Denver Broncos.
Not only that, but their franchise quarterback for the last several years, who was not long ago considered a star, Tua Tagovailoa, is a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
However, the Dolphins still have their most productive offensive talent from the 2025 season, running back De’Von Achane, in the fold, and they seemingly don’t have any interest in moving him anytime soon. NFL insider Adam Schefter reported just days ago that Miami has told any teams that have called about Achane that the 24-year-old is not available via trade.
Miami’s decision to shut down any attempts from rival teams looking to acquire Achane in a trade is the right one for several reasons.
For one, Achane’s youth makes him a great fit for the Dolphins’ rebuilding timeline. At just 24 years old, he will fit right in line with Miami’s young roster.
Then there’s the fact that Achane is on the heels of a career year in 2025. He was a rare bright spot in what was a rough season for Miami on offense overall, as he totaled a career-high 1,350 rushing yards on the season and averaged a league-best 5.7 yards per rushing attempt. Achane made a monumental leap in his third pro campaign, and maybe he has yet another notch he can get to in year four.
In an offseason that’s been full of change and goodbyes for the Miami Dolphins, it’s refreshing to see that they’re adamant about holding onto Achane, and hopefully, he’ll be with the Dolphins for a long time.
