The Dolphins’ front office purge continues as Miami reportedly parts ways with two major figures in its scouting department

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero has revealed that Miami has parted ways with both Adam Engroff and Anthony Hunt — the team's co-directors of player personnel. It's difficult to know exactly what goes into a decision like this one, but there is probably some value in reflecting on what Champ Kelly said the process was like integrating a new general manager into the fray while Kelly held the interim-general manager title in Las Vegas with the Raiders in 2023 and early 2024.

Kelly described in interviews with the Raiders that his role was to revamp the scouting department and, upon the change of general manager, help fold in the new decision makers into the scouting process the rest of the team had conducted in the fall.

Logic would dictate that Kelly will likely be charged with something similar in Miami. Does that mean Kelly is taking a more hand-on approach with this change to help that process when a new executive is instilled? Were there exceptions with the coordination efforts of Engroff and Hunt that changed their status instead? It's hard to say until we hear from Kelly or someone else in the upper reaches of the Dolphins' football operation on the matter.

But what we do know is that there's little reason to question if there's legitimate change coming to the Dolphins this offseason. Massive change looms on the horizon — even if it only starts with a slow trickle of news between now and the offseason.
