The Atlanta Falcons have gotten off to about as bad a start as a team could imagine in 2026, but some help could be on the way for their ‘Thursday Night Football,’ clash with the Green Bay Packers.

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is expected to make his season debut after the combination of Cooper Rush and Jack Strand scored just 16 points and failed to reach the red zone in the team’s first two games. While Atlanta has had plenty of problems in the first season under Kevin Stefanski, even slightly competent quarterback play should significantly raise the ceiling for an offense boasting skill players like Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts.

More good news for Atlanta is they’re playing a Packers team off to a slow start of their own, with a loss to Carson Wentz and the Vikings in Week 1 before needing overtime to survive the New York Jets in Week 2. On a short week against an apparently-shaky opponent, the Falcons have a chance to right the ship a bit.
