The full story of Trey Smith calming a young Chiefs fan during shooting at Kansas City's Super Bowl parade

Back in February, during the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl parade, a scary event unfolded. 

Near the end of the parade, a shots rang out, resulting in the death of 43-year-old Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two and a local radio DJ. 

In the midst of the panic and chaos, Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith, a former Tennessee Vols standout, was a calming force for a young Kansas City fan named Joey Borgonzi. 

Smith used a WWE title belt to help calm Borgonzi, who happens to be a big wrestling fan. 

"He was like saying, you're the champion, you're the champion," said Borgonzi while recounting the scary afternoon with Fox Sports' Tom Rinaldi. "And he said it so much that I started to believe it and I really forgot about what was happening outside." 

Borgonzi's mom told Rinaldi that she has a video where you can hear Smith telling Joey that he's the heavyweight champ of the world in the background. She also noted that her nor her husband were able to calm Joey in the moment until Smith came through.
