The Houston Texans entered training camp with the thought that Jayden Higgins could emerge as the second option in the receiving room behind Nico Collins. That completely changed as Higgins suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Houston has reportedly been looking at adding another wide receiver, and if they do go through with this approach, one trade that could make sense is with the New York Giants for Darnell Mooney.
Higgins was coming off a season in which he hauled in 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns, all while developing chemistry with CJ Stroud.
While the Texans still have Collins, they need another capable receiver to help take the pressure off Tank Dell from having to step up too early from his knee injury.
It was reported that teams had started calling the New York Giants about Darnell Mooney, and with that being the case, and the Giants do end up looking to move off him, the Texans can’t miss out on the opportunity.
Teams have asked Giants if Darnell Mooney is available for trade, per @art_stapleton.

Placing Mooney opposite Collins would give them someone who can help take the attention off him, as defenses would have to account for the speed, route running, and field-stretching ability Mooney provides.
With Stroud’s accuracy and anticipation, he can help further unlock Mooney’s skills for this to be beneficial for both the Texans and Mooney if this trade went through.
