Ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline, the Houston Texans have reportedly started to check in on running backs.
With David Montgomery dealing with an injury, this is a trade deadline move for Houston that would make sense. That being said, one move the Texans could look to make, so acquiring TreVeyon Henderson from the New England Patriots.

Through Week 8, Woody Marks and Montgomery have combined for 409 rushing yards on 129 carries. They have lacked a speed element out of the backfield, which is exactly what Henderson would bring.
Houston could keep Marks involved between the tackles while giving Henderson perimeter runs and screens. When defenses keep their safeties deep to account for Nico Collins and Marvin Harrison Jr., Henderson’s burst would give Houston a way to exploit the lighter box.
