The LSU Tigers are one of the teams that's hoping to swipe a key 2026 recruit from the Oregon Ducks.

2026 four-star quarterback Jonas Williams has been committed to Oregon since early August, but other programs, including LSU, are working to flip the talented recruit.

According to On3's Steve Wiltfong, LSU is "still in the picture" for Williams.

“I really like (LSU offensive coordinator) Joe Sloan,” said Williams to On3. “I like the quarterback room right now. I like where they’re headed, too.

Williams told On3 that he's weighing out his "options" despite his commitment to the Ducks.

Scouting report via 247Sports: Mobile passer with the arrow pointing up giving his traits and instincts. Put encouraging stretches on tape as both a freshman and sophomore before changing schools in advance of junior season. Type of quarterback that can win with ball placement and has proven to be rather accurate on the move, including on sprint outs. Always a threat to move the chains with his legs and can be effective on designed runs with his quick feet and thicker build, but has also shown the ability to stay on schedule and throw his receivers open from the pocket. In-person evaluations suggest that he’s not afraid to challenge tight coverage windows and will take what a defense gives him at the intermediate level. Should be viewed as the ideal signal caller for a spread attack that wants to challenge defenses with run-pass options. Must keep progressing and improving as a decision maker, but ability to evade pressure with his internal clock and create chances is certainly promising at this stage. Projects as a potential multi-year starter at the Power Four level that could eventually get looks from NFL scouts.

Williams, 6-foot-2/200 lbs from New Lenox, IL, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 6 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois. He's also rated as the No. 88 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

The USC Trojans are also in the mix for Williams.

LSU currently has five players committed to its 2026 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 12 in the nation.
