The 'Missed-playoffs passing leaders' quiz

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is reporting for his seventh training camp on July 28 after missing the playoffs in three-straight seasons.

Injuries have played a role, limiting him to a combined 18 games in 2023 and 2025. But he did play the entire 2024 season – finishing as the NFL leader in passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43), but with a record of just 9-8 and a third-place finish in the AFC North.

If this trend continues, the noise around a potential trade request from the three-time Pro Bowler will only get louder, and NFL Insider Vincent Bonsignore of The California Post indicated why he thinks the San Francisco 49ers could be a potential suitor.

“Multiple league sources have indicated that San Francisco is a team to watch if Burrow serves the Bengals with divorce papers,” he wrote.

“For the same reasons they made a run at Matt Stafford in 2021, some believe they would not hesitate to do the same if Burrow is available.”

Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the NFL QBs to throw for at least 4,500 yards in a season and still miss the playoffs can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
