Happy 72nd birthday to four-time Pro Bowler, one-time All-Pro, 1977 Offensive Rookie of the Year and Super Bowl XII champion, Tony Dorsett!
Dorsett was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the second-overall pick in the 1977 NFL Draft after winning the Heisman Trophy at Pittsburgh in 1976. He was an instant high-impact player for the Cowboys, rushing for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season of his rookie campaign. He added another 222 yards and four TDs in those playoffs – with 66 yards and a touchdown coming in the Super Bowl – en route to his lone Lombardi Trophy.
Despite never winning another Super Bowl, Dorsett still went on to have a Hall of Fame career. He eclipsed the 1,000-rushing-yard milestone eight times in his 11 years in Dallas and racked up 72 touchdowns on the ground.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the Super Bowl Era running backs to rush for 1,000 yards at least four times in their career can you name in eight minutes?
Good luck!
