The New York Giants appeared to send a loud and clear message to former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt this week.
Hyatt, a third round selection by the Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, was a healthy inactive in Week 8, seemingly signaling that the end of his time in New York is drawing near.
The former Tennessee wide receiver showed promised as a rookie in 2023, catching 23 passes for 373 yards. Hyatt, however, was barely used by the Giants last season (eight receptions for 67 yards in 16 games). That trend has continued this season as the South Carolina native has just three catches for 17 yards in five games -- which has certainly been a surprise considering Hyatt was expected to see more action this fall after Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers tore his ACL in Week 4.
It was reported earlier this season that New York received calls about Hyatt during the offseason, but the Giants weren't interested in dealing the former Vol at the time.
With Hyatt not even suiting up for the Giants in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles, speculation is growing that New York could trade the third year wide receiver before the November 4 deadline.
Lost in the mix from yesterday was Jalin Hyatt being made a healthy scratch and inactive by the Giants against the Eagles.

The Giants, who are thin at the receiver position as it is, decided to make a healthy player inactive against a divisional rival on the road. And this was 2… pic.twitter.com/pU6YC6wBma
It wouldn't be a surprise if the Giants trade for a wide receiver before the deadline. If that happens, then it seems highly likely that Hyatt will be on the move.
That wouldn't be a bad thing for Hyatt. He could clearly use a fresh start after getting misused in New York for the first three seasons of his NFL career.
The #Giants need to do what they can at the trade deadline to add a playmaker to this offense. You're thwarting Jaxson Dart's development having him work with this cast.
