In the 2024 NFL season, the NFC North was widely regarded as the most competitive division in football.
It combined for a record of 45-23 and sent three members to the playoffs. This division established itself as a juggernaut in the NFC for years to come.
In 2024, the Packers earned a record of 11-6. On the offensive side, Jordan Love was battling injuries and lacked help in the receiving room. Defensively, the Packers couldn’t pressure the quarterback or stop the run. Overall, the Packers won the easy games comfortably but struggled to beat good teams. This offseason, they addressed many of these concerns.
In free agency, the Packers made multiple pivotal signings. Offensive lineman Aaron Banks was the Packers’ biggest signing, with the hope that he can bolster the line and keep Love healthy. Next, cornerback Nate Hobbs was added among the rumors that Jaire Alexander would be departing.
In the first round of the NFL Draft, they selected Texas receiver Matthew Golden. Golden was a top-five receiver in this year’s class and projects to be a huge addition to Love’s receiver corps. The first three rounds were spent strengthening Love’s resources around him. However, in the later rounds, they drafted defense in hopes of forming a more formidable unit.

Overall, the Packers addressed much-needed concerns with the hopes of making a deep run. The Packers hope to keep both sides of the ball healthy, stop the run and let Love cut loose to his new weapons. If these stars align, the Packers could pose a serious threat and make a deep playoff run.
The Vikings were one of the NFL’s most surprising teams last year. They started the season 11-2 and finished 14-3, claiming second place in the NFC North and securing the No. 5 seed in the playoffs. The Vikings’ strong suit was on the offensive front. Based around star wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, the Vikings’ air-raid offense was elite. Their biggest offensive blemish was the run game and their quarterback protection. Defensively, they were one of the NFL’s best across the board, but the secondary faltered in the playoffs.
In free agency, they made an effort to strengthen the defense. They signed multiple pieces in the secondary, including Jeff Okudah and Harrison Smith. On the offensive side, they added offensive guards to help strengthen the line.
During this year’s draft, the Vikings further strengthened their offensive line with first-round draft pick Donovan Jackson out of Ohio State. They also added multiple defensive weapons to help maintain their defensive excellence.
Ohio State LT Donovan Jackson (

To ensure success, the Vikings should look to strengthen the run game while also maintaining their deadly air raid offense. On the defensive side, they must keep the same philosophy and continue to hold opponents to low scores. With these strategies in place, there’s no reason the Vikings cannot make a successful postseason run.
The Chicago Bears were the worst team in the NFC North last year with a record of 5-12. They had a lackluster run game and a horrible offensive line. Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze showed potential, being some of the few bright spots on this offense. On the defensive side, there was not much good. They could not force turnovers and let teams run the ball all over them.
In free agency, the Bears made great moves. They signed two stud offensive linemen in Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson, along with elite defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.
In this year’s draft, they selected two elite offensive prospects in Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III. They also added multiple pieces to the defense in hopes of stopping the run.
The Chicago Bears’ most notable move this offseason was signing former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to be their new head coach. Johnson is widely regarded as one of the most creative offensive minds in the NFL. However, will he be able to bring the same success from the Lions to this mess of a team?
Overall, the Bears should see better protection for their young quarterback and get some development from their younger pieces. With a heightened focus on engaging the running game while also preventing it defensively, the Bears should keep a neutral outlook and hope to win seven to nine games while showing promise for the future.
The Detroit Lions backed up their impressive turnaround season and once again conquered the NFC North.
After their surprise success in the 2023 season, many questioned if they could keep winning. They went 15-2 and earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The Lions centered their offense around the league’s best running back duo, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson helped craft the best offense in the NFL. On the defensive side of the ball, head coach Dan Campbell trained them to be the best they were across the board, but they could not stay healthy
In the draft, they selected defensive lineman Tyleik Williams in hopes of getting more pressure on the quarterback. Throughout their draft, four of the seven picks were lineman, showing they intend to strengthen both sides of their line. In free agency, they increased the strength of their secondary, signing three cornerbacks, most notably Avonte Maddox and DJ Reed.
The Detroit Lions have all the keys to succeed this year, but can they stay healthy? With the success of last season and the addition of new key pieces, the only thing preventing the Lions from being one of the best teams in football is themselves.
The NFC North was already the best division in football, and they will be again. No team lost key pieces; they all made good moves in the offseason and solidified their young cores. If they can stick to their guns and overcome their weaknesses, there is assured success for all four of these teams.
