The 'NFL Defensive Players of the Year' quiz

Happy 48th birthday to nine-time Pro Bowler, five-time First Team All-Pro honoree, 2004 AP Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl XLVII champion, Ed Reed!

Reed was a first-round selection in the 2002 NFL Draft out of Miami, and he became an immediate contributor to the Baltimore Ravens defense. He started 16 games as a rookie, intercepting five passes, recording a sack and 85 total tackles.

2002 was the first of seven seasons Reed would intercept at least five passes, leading the NFL three times in his career. In his 2004 Defensive Player of the Year campaign, Reed picked off nine passes, taking one back for a 106-yard touchdown while also forcing three fumbles and returning one for a touchdown as well in addition to two sacks.

Reed got his chance to perform on the NFL’s biggest stage in the “Harbowl,” Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Ravens in 2013 and made the most of it, intercepting Colin Kaepernick in the second quarter and recording five tackles en route to the Lombardi Trophy.

Reed spent the 2013 season with the Jets and Texans before retiring and getting inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2019.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to be named AP Defensive Player of the Year since the award was first given in 1971 can you name in six minutes?

Good luck!
