Aaron Rodgers to the Pittsburgh Steelers has been the NFL's worst-kept secret for some time.
When dealing with someone as unpredictable as Aaron Rodgers, until his name is on a dotted line, nothing is 100%, but it's felt like he would be a Pittsburgh Steeler for weeks, if not months now.
And if the latest NFL schedule leak is true, the league thinks that as well...
Fascinating: The #Jets will open the season at home against the #Steelers in a game that could feature Justin Fields facing his former team — and possibly Aaron Rodgers doing the same. @MattOLearyNY on it first.

If true, for one, we will be 2/2 on our schedule predictions thus far (shameless plug) but more importantly, there will be storylines galore. The headliner is that if and when Aaron Rodgers signs, his first game will be back in the New York Jets stadium, facing the very team and HC that told him to walk. And as we learned during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show a few weeks back, the ending between him and the Jets was far from pretty...
"I was kind of shocked. Not shocked because I didn't think that was a possibility, [being let go by New York]. If they want to move on, that's totally fine. But shocked because I just flew across the country and you could have told me this on the phone," Rodgers told McAfee. "This is verbatim exactly how it happened."
There is also the Justin Fields part of the story here as well. The Steelers were all in on Fields until it was clear that they wouldn't pay what the Jets would and they wouldn't assure him the starting role.
Fields also admitted that he wanted to stay at the end of the 2024 season, so the fact that he left will only add a chip on his shoulder.
Should Rodgers assume his role as starting quarterback for the Steelers, seeing he and Fields face his former team will make for an interesting Week 1.
