Happy 56th birthday to two-time Pro Bowler, three-time 4,000-yard passer and 11-year NFL veteran, Trent Green!
Green was an eighth-round selection in the 1993 NFL Draft out of Indiana by the then-San Diego Chargers, but he didn’t appear in an NFL game until 1997 with Washington. He took the starting gig in the nation’s capital in 1998, throwing for 3,441 yards and 23 TDs to 11 interceptions before missing the entire 1999 season with a knee injury.
After starting five games for the Rams in 2000, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs, where he had his longest run as a starting QB. From 2001-2005 he made two Pro Bowls, led the NFL in TD percentage in 2002 and pass attempts in 2004. After he was limited to just eight games due to a concussion in 2006, he was traded to the Dolphins for the 2007 season, where he went 0-5 in five starts. He’d return St. Louis for a final stint in 2008, where he lost his lone start and retired after the campaign.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to lead the NFL in pass attempts since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970 can you name in seven minutes?
Good luck!
