Happy 53rd birthday to two-time Pro Bowler, one-time All-Pro selection and the NFL’s leading receiver in 2004, Muhsin Muhammad!
Muhammad was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the franchise's second-ever Draft in 1996 out of Michigan State, and he saw limited action as a rookie in 1996. He established himself as a full-time starter in Carolina by 1998, and he posted his first of three 1,000-receiving-yard seasons in 1999 with 1,253.
In the 2003-04 season he made his first mark in the NFL Playoffs, catching 15 passes for 352 yards over four games and leading the Panthers with 140 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl XXXVIII loss to New England. The next year he led the NFL in both yards (1,405) and set a still-standing franchise record with 16 touchdowns.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to lead the NFL in receiving yards for each season of the Super Bowl Era can you name in seven minutes?
Good luck!
