Happy 53rd birthday to 11-time Pro Bowler, five-time All-Pro, 2002 AP Defensive Player of the Year and Class of 2014 Hall of Fame inductee, Derrick Brooks!
Brooks was selected 28th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1995 NFL Draft after playing his college days in Tallahassee at Florida State. Brooks was immediately inserted as a regular piece in the Buccaneers defense as a rookie, starting 13 games and recording 79 combined tackles and getting the first of his 13.5-career sacks.
The linebacker became one of the best tacklers of his day, leading the lead in solo tackles three times and surpassing the 100-tackle milestone in five of his 14 seasons – all with Tampa Bay. He also added 25 interceptions in his career with another two in the playoffs, including a pick-six in their Super Bowl XXXVII win over the Raiders.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to lead the NFL in solo tackles for each season since 1994 can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
