Happy 37th birthday to five-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro and four-time Super Bowl Champion, Rob Gronkowski!
Gronkowski was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2010 Draft out of Arizona, and he’d go on to form one of the most dominant Quarterback/Tight End duos in NFL history with Tom Brady.
Gronk played in nine seasons with the Pats, eclipsing 1,000-receiving-yards four times and reaching double-digit touchdowns five times. He led the entire league in touchdown catches with 17 in 2011. He was named AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2014, catching 82 passes for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season before helping New England win the first Super Bowl of his career. He’d play in four total Super Bowls with the Patriots, racking up winning two of them catching 23 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns.
He retired (for the 2019 season) but returned to football when Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. Despite the year off, he proved he still had some good football left in his tank. He recorded an additional 1,425 yards and 13 touchdowns in his two seasons with the Bucs, while catching another two touchdowns in their Super Bowl LV victory.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Gronk retired for good after the 2021 season with 9,286 receiving yards and 92 touchdown catches to his name. With that being said, how many of the players to pace the NFL in touchdown receptions for each season since the AFL/NFL merger can you name in seven minutes?
Good luck!
