The 'NFL yards-per-catch leaders' quiz

The Denver Broncos preseason officially gets underway with rookies reporting to training camp on July 22. While the main concern will be the status of quarterback Bo Nix’s ankle, there will also be plenty of attention on newcomer Jaylen Waddle.

After spending the first five seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins, wide receiver Waddle was traded to Denver as a part of a house-cleaning effort in south Florida. Despite being held below 1,000-yards for the last two seasons, Waddle has been both a reliable and explosive receiving option his entire career. He’s yet to play fewer than 14 games in a season and his 13.5 yards-per-catch are 17th-most among active players, while his 18.1 YPC in 2021 led the league.

“You can’t replace speed. That’s just what he brings to the table,” Nix said of Waddle, per Jared Koch of the Denver Broncos on SI.

“He’s extremely fast with the ball in his hands. He looks like he doesn’t really slow down when he makes cuts.”

Waddle totaled 373 receptions for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns in his five seasons with the Dolphins, the majority of which were spent alongside Tyreek Hill and catching balls from Tua Tagovailoa.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to lead the NFL in yards-per-reception for each season since 2000 can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
