If you've followed my work for a while, you know I've written extensively about the prowess of Oklahoma Sooners offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh as a developer of talent. His resume speaks for itself with the number of offensive linemen he has sent to the NFL, including back-to-back first-round picks in Anton Harrison and Tyler Guyton.
However, as talented a coach as he is, one thing that has held him back has been recruiting. While it's never been an issue, as Bedenbaugh identifies his guys and coaches them up better than anyone else in the country, the Sooners have rarely had premium, elite talent on their offensive line. That trend shifted last season, with five-star Michael Fasusi and four-star Ryan Fodje joining Oklahoma's class of 2025.
That could have started the ball rolling on other premium talents heading to the Bedenbaugh pipeline. Class of 2026 offensive tackle Felix Ojo, a five-star and consensus top-10 player in the class, has the Sooners very high on his list and could join Fasusi and Fodje as the future of Oklahoma's offensive line.
The Texas recruit recently spoke at length about his great relationship with Bedenbaugh and how remarkable an opportunity joining the Sooners would be, given his ability to turn linemen into NFL-quality players.
The Sooners are the last team on his summer visit schedule, which could be a great sign for leaving a lasting impression on the talented blocker. Ojo has already visited the Florida Gators last week, and has trips to Ohio State, Michigan, and Texas lined up before wrapping up with the Sooners on June 20th.
Ojo has firmly stated his desire to commit before the season starts, but will give the decision plenty of thought beforehand. With Oklahoma last on his docket, it's up to the staff to pull out all the stops to make his experience memorable.
If Oklahoma can secure his commitment, it would be historic for the program. Ojo would be just the second five-star offensive lineman the Sooners have brought to Norman, joining the aforementioned Fasusi. In fact, if the two join forces in Norman, it would be the first time the Sooners have had two five-star recruits in the same room (aside from quarterback) ever.
