The Philadelphia Eagles found the next Jeff Stoutland reclamation project in the 2025 NFL Draft with absurd upside

When you talk about the best position coaches in the entire NFL, there aren’t any who are held in higher regard than Philadelphia Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland. Not only is Coach Stoutland considered arguably the best offensive line coach in the league right now, but he also has grown a claim to be one of the best ever. His reputation is hard to argue against, developing some of the outstanding linemen in the game today.

A couple of Stoutland's most recent examples include star left tackle Jordan Mailata, an Australian footballer who hadn't played a snap of professional football before he was selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The likes of Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and Landon Dickerson also developed into All-Pro players under his tutelage. Coach Stoutland has also made it a habit of developing raw athletes, or reclamation projects during his tenure as well.

A couple of his most recent examples are center Cam Jurgens and offensive guard Mekhi Becton. Jurgens, who was a second round selection by the Eagles during the 2022 NFL Draft, was viewed as a raw offensive lineman while coming out of the University of Nebraska. After learning behind Kelce and playing guard in 2023, Jurgens got his shot as the starting center this past season and was rewarded with a 4-year, $68 million contract for his efforts.

Becton was an even better example of the Stoutland impact. Originally a first round selection by the New York Jets in the 2020 NFL Draft, Becton was viewed as their future up front. After a good early start, injury and inconsistent play plagued Becton's career. He was left homeless following the 2023 season, and Stoutland got his hands on him last offseason. Fast forward 12 months, and Becton was signed to a hefty contract by the Los Angeles Chargers for his efforts and development.

Now Coach Stoutland has his next reclamation project, this time it is former Texas standout Cameron Williams. The 6-6, 317-pound behemoth was selected in the sixth round by the Eagles in the 2025 NFL Draft. Earlier in the season, Williams was mostly projected to be a first or second round selection by most. Unfortunately, the end of Williams' season was awful. While being injured and very inconsistent, many believed that Williams would return to the Longhorns for one more season.

Williams still decided to test the NFL waters, but his draft process didn't help his cause. From a talent perspective, there is a lot to work with. He is a dense offensive tackle with surprising foot quickness and length. The best future for Williams might be inside, but regardless, there is definitely talent to work with. There is no better spot for Williams to land than with Coach Stoutland.

The Eagles have an open competition right now at right guard. While it is unlikely that Williams wins that job as a rookie, that could be his future long term. There is also a chance that Williams is groomed to potentially learn behind Johnson at right tackle. Regardless, Williams is a talented player who has landed in the perfect situation to unlock his upside,
