The real MVP for the Philadelphia Eagles overshadowed by Jalen Hurts and defensive dominance in Super Bowl LIX

"World Champs."

Philadelphia Eagles general manager said it best when asked how to describe this special team and season. It's as simple as that.

The Eagles may have fought through some early season struggles, but when it mattered most they absolutely embarrassed the preeminent dynasty of this NFL era in the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jalen Hurts was phenomenal. The entire defense played lights out. However, the real MVP for the Eagles was completely overshadowed and likely won't get the credit he deserves.

Howie Roseman is the real MVP.

As Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown said himself last week, "I think Howie Roseman is the reason we are here tonight." Roseman constructed the perfect roster to win Super Bowl LIX from top to bottom using every method and means available to make it happen. Yes, the players and coaches should get plenty of credit for pulling off the win, but Roseman was the mastermind who brought them all together.

When asked about the Super Bowl victory immediately following the game, still on the field talking with Dianna Russini, Roseman clearly couldn't be more proud of his players and coaches:

"[I'm] really proud of all the players and coaches. They had adversity early in the year. They fought through it. Now they're world champs."

And then when asked about his decision-making that built the Eagles team he still wouldn't take any of the credit, even though it was very much deserved. Roseman is just a humble, admirable professional who loves his Philadelphia Eagles. And for that reason he should be appreciated by Eagles fans, and frankly football fans around the NFL even more.

"I don't know. I think a lot of the credit goes to the players and the coaches. They put up this performance. Coach [Sirianni] has this line, 'You can't be great without the greatness of others.' And I can't be great because I don't play. So, very special group that we have."

It really is a special group that the Eagles have, just like Roseman said. And it's all because of the work he did putting the Super LIX champions together.

Roseman has been the best general manager in the NFL since he took over the role in 2010, and he's been building towards this special season for quite a long time. Since 2010 Roseman has drafted four first-team All Pros and 15 Pro Bowl players. And six of those stars were still on the Eagles roster as they won Super Bowl LIX.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts, offensive tackle Lane Johnson, defensive tackle Jalen Carter, edge defender Josh Sweat, and two more offensive linemen in Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens were all drafted by Howie Roseman.

Beyond those obviously special players that contributed to the Super Bowl win, Roseman of course also brought in the game's most impactful players that locked in the blowout victory.

Cooper DeJean--who ran back a pick six for a touchdown--was an absolute steal in the second round of the NFL Draft. All-Pro linebacker Zach Baun--who made a diving interception that led to another score--was a massive free agent signing. AJ Brown--whose touchdown put the Eagles up 24-0 ahead of halftime--was stolen from the Tennessee Titans in one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history.

Howie Roseman dominates in every single facet of being the perfect NFL general manager. He constructed one of the greatest NFL teams ever as demonstrated by the complete immolation of the Chiefs on Sunday. Thus, he is the real MVP for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Yes, Jalen Hurts rightfully won the MVP. And yes, the defense was incredible. But Howie Roseman should be acknowledged as the best general manager in the NFL. And there really doesn't seem to be a close second at this point.
