The NFL is scripted – or so some conspiracy theorists would have you believe. One recent rumor that centered on the Super Bowl logo was finally debunked after Sunday’s conference title games.
The conspiracy claimed that the NFL had been predetermining the Super Bowl finalists well before Conference Championship weekend. How was the NFL hinting at this? The theory pointed to the logos for Super Bowls LVI and LVII – which are released well before the games themselves – as evidence.
The logo for Super Bowl LVI between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams featured orange and yellow colors. The design for Super Bowl LVII also roughly matched the colors of its participants, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

The two top seeds this season – the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens – both happened to match the purple and crimson colors of the Super Bowl LVIII logo. But Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs ended the Super Bowl color match on Sunday by beating the Ravens 17-10 at M&T Stadium in Baltimore, Md.

Ravens fans probably wished that the fix truly was in. But Mahomes and the Chiefs proved to be more potent than any color conspiracy.
