The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Have Designated Their 2023 Undrafted Free Agent for Return from Injured Reserve.
Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have designated undrafted free agent wide receiver Rakim Jarrett for return from injured reserve. Jarrett has a 21-day window to practice with the team before he can be elevated to the active roster. If he doesn’t practice in the next 21 days, he will miss the rest of the season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie suffered an injury in Week 11.

Jarrett suffered a quad injury in their 14-27 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11. Tampa Bay placed him on injured reserve on November 23, and missed the last four games.

Tampa Bay went 3-1 in their last four games. They lost to Indianapolis 20-27 in Week 12 and defeated Carolina 21-18 in Week 13, Atlanta 29-25 in Week 14, and Green Bay 34-20 in Week 15.

Assessing his rookie season.

Rakim Jarrett went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, and Tampa Bay signed him as an undrafted free agent on May 12. He played well during rookie and training camp and made the 53-man roster as the backup outside wide receiver to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans.

Jarrett hasn’t received much playing time in his rookie season because Chris Godwin plays in 81% of offensive snaps, and Mike Evans plays in 78% of offensive snaps.

Jarrett appeared in the first ten games, recording four receptions on nine targets for 60 yards, representing 18% of offensive snaps. His longest reception came in Week 11 when he had a 41-yard reception.

Who replaced Jarrett?

David Moore filled in for the injured Jarrett. Moore signed with Tampa Bay on May 15, 2023. He was released during roster cuts but signed to their practice squad shortly after.

He was elevated to the active roster for Weeks 12-14 and was promoted to the active roster on December 13. Moore has three receptions on four targets for 79 yards and one touchdown, representing 19% of offensive snaps.

His best game came in Week 15, where he had two receptions for 68 yards and a 52-yard touchdown.

Can they make the playoffs?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 4th place in the NFC Playoff Picture and are 1st place in the NFC South with a 7-7 record because they have the tie-breaker over the New Orleans Saints.

They play at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16, at home against the New Orleans Saints in Week 17, and on the road against the Carolina Panthers in their season finale.

Will the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make the playoffs and win the NFC South? Stay tuned.
