The three best candidates to win the Titans' starting right guard position
Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK

The offensive line has been at the center of many conversations for the Tennessee Titans this offseason.

Offensive line coach Bill Callahan was brought in to improve one of the NFL's worst units from a year ago. The Titans then made a major splash in free agency by signing center Lloyd Cushenberry and used the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on left tackle JC Latham.

Though there has certainly been an upgrade in talent in the trenches the Titans still have a couple of questions they'll need to find an answer for. One of those questions revolves around the upcoming battle at right guard.

Daniel Brunskill

Tennessee inked RG Daniel Brunskill to a two-year deal last offseason. He logged 14 starts at the position in 2023, but didn't do quite enough to lock up the job for the upcoming season.

With a new coaching staff now in the building, Brunskill will once again have to prove that he's capable of playing consistent football on the right side of the offensive line.

Dillon Radunz

While Brunksill will have an opportunity to reassume his starting role, he is still going to have to beat out Dillon Radunz and Saahdiq Charles. Radunz is an intriguing option with the highest ceiling of the three, but the Titans have used him at four different positions since he was drafted in the second round of the 2021.

At 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds, Radunz has the build to play inside. With that being said, it remains to be seen how he will be deployed in the Brian Callahan era. There's a strong possibility that the Titans mix him in at right tackle in training camp placing him in a unique circumstance where he will be in two position battles.

Saahdiq Charles

Charles is the wild card in this group. The Titans signed him to a one-year deal back in March, but he also has a window of opportunity to land the right guard job. The Washington Commanders drafted him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he's only made 18 starts in four seasons, 10 of which came in 2023. Charles was a teammate of Cushenberry's when the two played together at LSU, so there should be some chemistry between the two.

All three of these options qualify as competent although nobody in this trio is a Pro Bowl level player from what they've put on tape. Bill Callahan's presence could pay major dividends throughout this competition as the Titans would love to maximize Radunz's talent for a solid return on their investment.
