The unsung heroes for the Colts in Week 17
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

When it was announced that CB Kenny Moore II would be inactive for the Indianapolis Colts Week 17 matchup, many, including myself, were worried about their young secondary.

The Colts played Week 17 without arguably their two best and most consistent secondary players. With Moore II inactive and safety Julian Blackmon was placed on the IR earlier this week.

This meant the Colts starting secondary today was:

Brents had a solid day, leading the Colts with three pass deflections. The Raiders top pass catcher, Davante Adams, still had a massive day with 13 catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns. But the Colts didn't allow anyone else to be a key contributor to beat them on the day, and most of this young group had big stops to help the Colts come away with this win.

One moment negated by a penalty was rookie Jaylon Jones intercepting Aidan O'Connell and returning it for a touchdown. It would have been Jones' first career interception if it would have counted. Personally, I felt like the officials let way more contact go without a flag throughout the game from both sides to take this one away from Jones.

Cross was responsible for filling Blackmon's versatile role on the Colts defense. He wasn't picked on in coverage much at all and ended the day with nine total tackles, which was the 3rd most on the team, only trailing LBs EJ Speed and Zaire Franklin.

The Colts ended up benching Thomas II for veteran Rodney Harrison Jr, but even he found a way to make a play for the team as he recovered the onside kick to ice the game and give the Colts a win.
