Bill Belichick’s leaked email was recently discussed by Bill Simmons from The Ringer. Belichick’s email was leaked by his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. In the email, Belichick can be seen stating that he was the main reason for the team to grow from a million-dollar franchise to a billion-dollar one.

However, he did not seem to credit Tom Brady, who won six Super Bowls for the team, for anything. From the contents of the email, it looks like there were ego issues between Belichick and Brady, as echoed further by Bill Simmons.

“Everyone was like, ‘Patriot Way, Patriot Way, we’re just about Super Bowls.’ But there was clearly some sort of ego thing and it’s two guys that really understood their place in history in a whole bunch of different ways, right? I think that really explained to me why Brady didn’t end up [re-signing] with the Patriots because what everybody was writing about and doing the sports radio topic of ‘who’s more responsible for all the Super Bowls: Belichick or Brady?’ And the right answer was always both.
