There's Conflict Brewing On ESPN's 'College GameDay' Staff

ESPN's "College GameDay" continues to be the go-to pregame show for college football fans, but there seems to be tension behind the scenes.

For the past few weeks, Pat McAfee has fired up the "College GameDay" crowds by standing on his chair and performing school-specific chants. Two weeks ago, he had the fans at Oregon signing "Shout" at 6 a.m. local time. In our opinion, it was an epic scene for ESPN.

Several fans, however, accused McAfee of ruining "College GameDay." They claim he's classless and has made the product all about himself.

"Ruining this show for me," one person commented. "I hate watching now. He's ridiculous."

"Not a fan," a second person wrote. "Don't like him. No class at all for what used to be a group of classy guys."

"Pat needs to go," another Instagram user declared. "Not a fan at all."

McAfee fires back.

On Tuesday morning, McAfee responded to all this criticism with a video shared on his Instagram Story.

McAfee claims "old white people" at ESPN have hated him for the past few years. He said some of those people are producers for "College GameDay."

"I just got done with a little morning workout. It was nice to read those comments. I’d like to let all you old f---s know I hate you too. Never got along with that class of people, teachers, principals, you name it. Since I’m a kid, always hated me, it’s kind of a part of life now," McAfee said.

"The thing about old white people and old ESPN people - those are really the people that hate me the most at this stage of life. Now, granted, there’s some other groups that certainly have threatened my life on a pretty regular basis. I’d say they hate me too. But throughout the entirety old whites and the old ESPN people over the last like three years have really hated me. That’s who all the producers are of GameDay too. So now you know that’s it’s been a fun run. College football is great. Cheers! Have a great day."

These remarks from McAfee might create an awkward working environment for the remainder of the 2025 college football season.

"College GameDay" will be in Nashville this Saturday to cover an SEC showdown between No. 15 Missouri and No. 10 Vanderbilt.
