There's Growing Talk Patriots Could Release Stefon Diggs

The New England Patriots signed Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million contract during the early stages of free agency. Although this might sound premature, it appears the team already has buyer's remorse.

Diggs has not yet showed up for OTAs in New England, but to be fair, the team's workout sessions have been voluntary up to this point. The bigger issue is that he recently went viral for partying on a yacht.

A video of Diggs being surrounded by woman surfaced on social media after Memorial Day weekend. One woman was spotted flashing an unidentified pink substance in a bag.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was asked about Diggs' offseason behavior. He made it clear that he wasn't thrilled about the video going viral.

"It's something that we're aware of," Vrabel told reporters. "Obviously we want to make great decisions on and off the field. Any conversations that I’ve had with Stefon will remain between him and I and the club."

Even though Diggs received a lucrative contract this offseason, New England could move on from him before Week 1. At least that's what one insider for the team claims.

According to Scott Zolak of 98.5 The Sports Hub, the Patriots won't rule out releasing Diggs.

"I came to this show yesterday with the opinion — not opinion, but the knowledge that it is on the table," Zolak said. "That it is being thought of."

Zolak said the Patriots aren't just frustrated with Diggs' viral video. There are reportedly concerns about his commitment.

"It's not just the boat," Zolak added. "There are some other things that I’ve heard that put some things in question. Are you all-in here?"

The Patriots signed Diggs to lead their wide receiver room. At this point, we're not even sure if he'll step on the field for them.
