These Day 3 sleepers from last five NFL Drafts have been perfect fits for Eagles

It might have taken Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to get a feel for the NFL Draft, but he certainly hit a lot of home runs over the last five years.

Roseman has managed to land top talent, including Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, DeVonta Smith, Nolan Smith Jr., Cam Jurgens, Nakobe Dean, Landon Dickerson, Milton Williams, and Jalen Hurts, within the first three rounds. That list is incredible to think about, especially since all are starters now that Williams is no longer on the team, but they still received big paychecks during the offseason.

So the Eagles have shown great success in finding great talent in the first two days of the NFL Draft. What about the ones that fell to the final day and have been productive for the Eagles since 2020?

Four sleeper draft picks for Eagles since 2020

Grant Calcaterra, TE (Sixth-Round)

With Dallas Goedert missing significant time last year due to injury, Grant Calcaterra broke out in a big way after he had career-highs in receptions (24), yards (298), and touchdowns (one). Calcaterra's performance led the Eagles to consider moving on from Goedert during the offseason, but the team ultimately brought him back. After a quiet first two seasons in the midnight green uniforms, Calcaterra looks like a guy who could be the next starting tight end on the team.

Moro Ojomo, DT (Seventh-Round)

The expectations weren't high for Moro Ojomo after being a seventh-round pick in 2023, but his performance last year has helped put him in the running to start on the defensive line this season. Ojomo landed on PFF's top 32 best defensive tackles entering the 2025 season at 32. He is in line to start with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, as Ojomo is an easy candidate for a breakout 2025 campaign.

Kenneth Gainwell, RB (Fifth-Round)

While Kenneth Gainwell is the only player on the list who is still not on the roster, his contributions as a reliable backup running back can't go unnoticed. Gainwell rushed for 1,185 yards and 12 touchdowns, while adding 721 receiving yards and one touchdown in his four seasons. Eagles fan can only hope for success for the former fifth-round pick as he takes his talents to Pittsburgh.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB (Fifth-Round)

It's only been one season, but Jeremiah Trotter Jr. appears to be on track to become the same type of player his father was when he played with the Eagles in the 2000s. Trotter finished with 25 tackles, one quarterback hit, one pass deflection, and a half of a sack in 17 games. Most of the work was done on special teams, but Trotter could play a bigger role in 2025 and has looked the part of a solid defensive contributor this season.
