The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are bringing back so much young talent from last year's roster despite the number of losses from players signing elsewhere.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been the best in the NFL with finding talent in the last five NFL Drafts to build the roster with. Nine of the projected 11 starters on defense are players Roseman selected in the draft since 2020.
This has resulted in deep depth charts with potential position battles entering training camp that will fascinate fans. Which position groups are the best on the Eagles going into an all-important training camp?
Led by Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, this defensive line is only getting better, as they are incredibly young, but they can do more than stop the run. Moro Ojomo has been a highly anticipated breakout star in 2025, as he is projected to be a starter for the first time. Depth-wise, rookie defensive tackle Ty Robinson has a chance to be a special player as he has already turned heads at OTAs and minicamp.
There are a lot of questions about edge rusher, but it is not short of talent. Nolan Smith Jr. is the leader of the group after his 6.5 sacks last year was good for second on the team. Jalyx Hunt is expected to be the other starter as he will fill in for Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat.
Philadelphia is fortunate to have a wealth of veteran experience behind those players, with Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari, who both could very much challenge Hunt for the starting job. Patrick Johnson and rookie Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr. shouldn't be overlooked as they could see the field in 2025 as well.
Everyone knows how great Saquon Barkley is, as he alone can carry this backfield to be one of the best in the NFL. Will Shipley and A.J. Dillon are no slouches, as both bring a different dynamic at running back.
Shipley is more elusive and can make plays in the passing game. Dillon is a punishing downhill runner who can get those short yards and take some of the pressure off of Jalen Hurts to convert those Tush Push plays. These two can step into the starting lineup if something happens to Barkley and not miss a beat.
Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson as two of the best tackles in the NFL. They both are Pro Bowlers with Johnson going to be waiting at the Hall of Fame gates for a short time when he decides to retire.
Some may not see the depth they have at those positions, which will make training camp tough to determine who will be the backups. Kendall Lamm is a veteran tackle with starting experience throughout his career. Rookies Myles Hinton and Cameron Williams will undoubtedly make things interesting. Watch out for undrafted rookie Hollin Pierce, who could surprise many by sneaking onto the 53-man roster.
