Things Not Looking Great for Kenny Pickett at Eagles Camp
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Reports surfaced during OTAs that former Pittsburgh Steelers quartetback Kenny Pickett was showing out in Philadelphia. Ed Kracz of Eagles Today, said Pickett was looking sharp “looked sharp, sharper than Jalen Hurts, to be honest.” He also said the Eagles can win games with Pickett if something happens to Hurts.

Well, fast forward three months, and it appears that Pickett might not even be the team’s No. 2 quarterback.

Tanner McKee got second-team reps over Kenny Pickett on Sunday, according to EJ Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Eagles selected McKee out of Stanford in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s a 6-foot-6, 231-pound quarterback with good arm strength, and is a smooth athlete for his size.

Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 Wip thinks there’s some real concern with Pickett and his trajectory as the team’s No. 2 quarterback.

“Might be time to have the Tanner McKee over Kenny Pickett discussion,” Shorr-Parks wrote on X. “Would be very curious to see them both get reps with the 1st team offense just to see who does better. It might be McKee.”

The Eagles acquired Pickett in a trade with the Steelers in March, along with a 2024 fourth-round pick (No. 120 overall), in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick (No. 98 overall) and a pair of 2025 seventh-round picks. Pickett was not happy about the Russell Wilson signing and requested a trade.

Picket reiterated an interview with Ben Istvan of the The Philadelphia Inquirer that he felt like a change was the best thing for him.

“Change is a great thing. I’m going through it right now,” Pickett told Istvan. “I was in Pittsburgh for seven years and now I’m over in Philadelphia… I think a lot of people probably have some negative views on change, but that’s really just your outlook on it. I think if you keep a positive mindset, it’ll all work out for the better.”

The Steelers play the Eagles on Dec. 15 at Lincoln Financial Field. The headlines will be endless if Pickett starts the game, or even if he replaces Hurts because of an injury. … That’s if he’s even the No. 2 QB.
