This offseason is vital for Jordan Love's development

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is almost there.

The 2023 season was all about development and despite a shaky start, Love ended the season as inarguably one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

He threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. Most impressively, though, 20 of those touchdowns and just three of those interceptions came in the second half of the season.

He also threw five touchdowns in the playoffs, but two badly timed interceptions doomed the Packers against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC divisional round.

Still, for a first year starter tasked with replacing a future Hall of Famer in Aaron Rodgers, Love's 2023 season and postseason was a rousing success. The key for him now is to build on that success, though, and that's what makes this offseason so important for both him and the Packers.

Love has the tools to be a top quarterback in the NFL, but there are a few things he needs to refine this season.

First is his deep ball. It improved dramatically toward the end of 2023 but he still threw way too many 50/50 balls that could have gone the other way had his young and talented receiving core not made a big play.

He also still seemed to not get enough air on deep routes, so that's something that must be fixed this offseason.

One also gets the sense that Love left some athleticism on the table in 2023. He'll never be Lamar Jackson, but he is a great athlete and can hurt defenses with his feet.

If he figures out how to be more of a dual-threat quarterback a la Patrick Mahomes, Love could really raise both his and the Packers' ceiling in 2024.

The potential is there, but it's integral that Love capitalizes on this offseason in order to reach it.
