The Jacksonville Jaguars have made some profound changes this offseason, headlined by hiring a new head coach and trading up to select the most exciting player in the 2025 NFL Draft.
As they look to erase the stench of a 4-13 season, here are three big questions the Jaguars are facing in 2025:
Will Travis Hunter be a true two-way player?
Leading up to the NFL Draft, Hunter made it clear that he wants to play both wide receiver and cornerback at the professional level. The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner excelled at both positions in college, but doing so in the NFL would be a far greater challenge.
The Jaguars have said they will allow Hunter to be a two-way player, but many are skeptical. While Hunter has undeniable talent, attending position meetings with the offensive and defensive groups would be difficult.
Rather than playing full-time as a wide receiver and cornerback, Hunter may play a full complement of snaps at one position and have a package of plays designed for him at the other. Jacksonville's coaching staff will have a tricky situation to navigate if the No. 2 overall pick insists on never coming off the field.
Can Trevor Lawrence bounce back from his injury-riddled season?
Lawrence signed a five-year, $275M contract extension last offseason but never really got to live up to it. The former No. 1 overall pick first suffered a shoulder injury in Week 9 that sidelined him for two games. In his first game back, Lawrence took a brutal hit that led to a concussion and was shut down for the remainder of the year.
Lawrence finished the season with just 2,045 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games. His 2023 campaign was not much better, and Jacksonville missed the playoffs both years.
A healthy Lawrence should be motivated to prove he can play like one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.
Is Liam Coen the answer?
The Jaguars missed the playoffs the last two seasons under Doug Pederson. They have now turned to another coach with a history of getting elite production out of quarterbacks.
Coen was hired as the Jaguars' new head coach this offseason. The 39-year-old spent last year as the offensive coordinator of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that exceeded expectations.
Like he did in Tampa, Coen will have plenty of weapons at his disposal in Jacksonville with a passing offense led by Lawrence, Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr.
Coming off a 4-13 season, the Jaguars will expect a big turnaround now that Lawrence is healthy. They also mortgaged their future to move up three spots in the draft for Hunter, hoping for immediate results from Coen.
