Three former Vikings selected to College Football Hall of Fame
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Three former Vikings have been selected to the National Football Foundation's 2024 College Football Hall of Fame Class. Randy Moss (Marshall), Steve Hutchinson (Michigan), and Toby Gerhart (Stanford) are among the 22 members of this year's class.

Moss had over 3,500 yards and a ridiculous 54 touchdown receptions in two seasons at Marshall (1996-97), scoring at least one TD in every single game he played. In his second year, he won the Biletnikoff Award as the best receiver in the country and finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting. Moss fell to the Vikings with the 21st pick in 1998 due to off-the-field concerns, and the rest is history. He's fourth in NFL history in receiving yards and was a first ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer in 2018.

Hutchinson was a four-year starter at Michigan, winning the national title as a redshirt freshman in 1997 and being named a unanimous All-American as a senior in 2000. He earned all-Big Ten honors four years in a row. Hutchinson was drafted by the Seahawks in 2001, played for the Vikings from 2006-2011, and was a first team All-Pro five times in his career. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall in 2021.

Gerhart didn't have the professional success of the other two, but he was incredible in college. He had 43 rushing touchdowns over his final two seasons at Stanford, including 28 in 2009 — when he finished second in Heisman voting behind Mark Ingram II. Gerhart had over 2,000 yards from scrimmage that season. He's Stanford's all-time leader in rushing touchdowns. The Vikings selected Gerhart in the second round in 2010 to complement Adrian Peterson, and he spent four seasons in Minnesota. His best year came in 2011, when he had 721 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.
