Three free-agent wide receivers the Las Vegas Raiders could target as week three of free agency approaches

The Las Vegas Raiders still have a huge sum of cap space. After restructuring Christian Wilkins' contract, the Raiders now have a lot more money to play with than they had prior. And, that leaves the possibility of making a huge signing in free agency.

In March of 2025, Wilkins had his roster bonus worth $20.5 million converted to a signing bonus for salary cap purposes. The move created $15.375 million in cap room for 2025. Wilkins' cap number in the other years of his contract will each increase by $5.125 million. - Over The Cap

The Raiders should now have around $58 million in cap space available to use. Now, remember, they have to use around $10 million of that for the rookies they will draft in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they are likely going to give Geno Smith a new contract, as the former Seattle Seahawks QB wants something done long term. So, the $58 million won't be the exact number they have to play around with. And, who's to say that the Raiders didn't do the restructure so that they could get a deal done with Smith?

But, just for the sake of things, let's take a look at the remaining WR market in free agency, because that is one of the bigger needs they have remaining that does have the potential to change before the 2025 NFL Draft gets here.

3 free agent WRs Raiders should target

Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans

This is the biggest name remaining, really. Some thought the Houston Texans would try and retain him, but it feels like they have gone a different route after Diggs tore his ACL last season. Diggs has met with the New England Patriots, so that could be inevitable, but the Raiders need a big-time WR, and if Diggs is that of what he used to be, he would fit the mold perfectly. He would likely be the best option for the Raiders as well, and possibly the most expensive one.

Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills

The former Oakland Raider would be a surprisingly good fit back with the franchise that drafted him. Since leaving Oakland, he has played with the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills since then, having a steady career as a No. 1 receiver on two of those teams. But, he's not really that anymore. On this team, he could be but would be the second-best pass-catching option. At this stage of his career, he is likely a high-end WR2, which isn't a bad thing. His play style would fit well with what the Raiders need.

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

The Raiders may try to re-kindle a relationship that Pete Carroll had with Geno Smith in Seattle. One of Smith's favorite targets, Tyler Lockett, is now a free agent, and the Raiders have a need at the position. Lockett is no longer a WR1 if he ever was, but he is a good WR2 behind Jakobi Meyers. He finished with above 600 receiving yards last season in a run-first offense as the third WR on the team. So, the Raiders could certainly make it work.
