For the first time since the Deshaun Watson trade, the Cleveland Browns will have meaningful cap flexibility to be active in free agency. With plenty of talent already in place, Cleveland may be closer to returning to playoff contention than many realize. Here are three free agents the Browns should target to bolster their roster.
Cleveland must address the offensive line if it hopes to return to playoff contention. With all five positions potentially open for upgrades heading into 2026, targeting the top offensive lineman in the free-agent class makes sense.
Tyler Linderbaum has been among the NFL’s best centers since entering the league in 2022, and the Baltimore Ravens looming cap issues could make him available. If he reaches the open market, Linderbaum would be an immediate starter and a foundational piece for Cleveland’s offensive front.
At just 25 years old, he could solidify the position long term and give the Browns their most reliable center since Austin Mack, anchoring the line for years to come.
Continuing the focus on upgrading the offensive line, prying Rasheed Walker away from the Green Bay Packers would be a strong move. Widely regarded as the top offensive tackle in this free-agent class, Walker be a reliable left tackle to protect Cleveland’s quarterback’s blindside in 2026.
While he will command a significant contract on the open market, the 25-year-old offers long-term value and would be a smart investment in the Browns’ future.
With a crowded wide receiver room in Indianapolis, Alec Pierce could potentially slip into free agency. Since being drafted in 2022, Pierce has established himself as a reliable deep threat for the Indianapolis Colts.
After posting 871 yards so far in 2025, Pierce has the profile to emerge as a strong WR2 in Cleveland. At just 25 years old, he would also inject youth and explosiveness into a wide receiver room in need of a spark.
With a few roster cuts and contract restructures, the Browns could open up significant cap space heading into 2026. Combined with these free-agent additions and another strong draft class, Cleveland could realistically position itself for a return to playoff contention.
The quarterback situation remains the biggest question, but armed with two first-round picks, the Browns would have the flexibility to address it while also adding another position of need.
