For the next three weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers will give us an appetizer of their 2025 NFL season.
Two weeks of Organized Team Activities followed by a three-day mandatory minicamp will give us the first idea of what to expect from this iteration of the Black and Gold.
But when players report to the facility on Tuesday, there are sure to be a lot of lingering questions, with these three being the biggest...
Assuming Aaron Rodgers doesn't crash the party and show up out of nowhere, Mason Rudolph will be taking first team reps when the stating offense is practicing. But given the fact that Rudolph himself realizes that he may not hold that role for long, what does that mean for those behind him?
Do the Steelers let Will Howard receive some quarterback #1 reps? Especially since they believe Aaron Rodgers or someone else not named Mason Rudolph will be their starter? I wouldn't be shocked. These are merely OTAs. No pads, just helmets and jerseys with no contact and a ball in the air.
If your Pittsburgh, why not have a slight competition between Rudolph and Howard while you wait for your eventual starter to come?
Evet since Watt sent Steelers Nation ablaze with his viral Instagram story, there has been nonstop speculation about his future. The reality is, barring something entirely unforeseen, Watt will sign a massive contract extension this offseason, likely tying him to the team through his mid-30s.
When that happens? Probably sometime around training camp. A similar situation occurred with Watt before his last extension, and Cam Heyward skipped the early portion of OTAs last year before signing a new deal around the start of the season.
Watt is as selfless a superstar that we have in this league, but he looks up and sees players whom he has bested in key categories getting paid more than him and perhaps he takes a stand and sits out.
After trading George Pickens, the current crop of WRs not named DK Metcalf includes Robert Woods, Calvin Austin III, and Roman Wilson. It's still to early to rule out another external addition, but the three weeks prior to summer vacation should shed some light on who is looking the best at the number two spot.
