Three players Packers should target in 2024 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers have three selections among the first 58 picks in April's NFL Draft and are in a unique position to fill several needs ahead of the 2024 campaign. 

With that in mind, here are three players the Packers should consider targeting. 

S, Kamren Kinchens (Miami) 

Safety was a glaring hole all season long for the Packers, and with Rudy Ford, Jonathan Owens and Darnell Savage all hitting the free-agent market, shoring up the spot has become even more critical. Selecting Kinchens would help start the rebuild of a secondary in desperate need of a makeover. 

The former Miami standout plays an aggressive, ball-hawking style and is arguably the most versatile safety in this year's draft, capable of moving all over the field. Meanwhile, he's a turnover machine, leading the ACC in interceptions in 2022 and 20223. 

CB, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (Missouri) 

While safety is a concern for the Packers, there's also uncertainty in the cornerback room. Jaire Alexander may be the only sure thing heading into 2024, and he played only seven games this season due to injury. In need of a solid option opposite two-time Pro Bowler, Rakestraw fits the mold. 

Rakestraw is among the best man-to-man coverage corners in the draft but can also thrive in zone packages. Furthermore, despite his thin frame at 6'0" and 170 pounds, he's a willing and solid tackler in the open field. 

RB, Jonathon Brooks (Texas) 

The Packers also have questions in the backfield, with Aaron Jones and Ellis Merriweather being the only backs under contract for 2024. Jones, entering the final year of his contract, will likely be back on a restructured deal or an extension, but Green Bay will still need to add a potential heir apparent. 

Brooks suffered a torn ACL in November and might not be back on the field healthy until August. However, before the injury, he looked like the best back in the nation, rushing for 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns in 11 games. He didn't have the biggest workload at Texas, so there's not much of a resume to fall back on, but his elusive, game-breaking skills should be too attractive to pass up.
