Three players to watch in Browns' preseason finale

The Cleveland Browns are traveling to Seattle to play the Seahawks in their preseason finale on Saturday. It is the last opportunity for several players to prove themselves as starters or to make the 53-man roster.

With that in mind, here are three Browns to watch.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson

Watson has yet to play a snap during the preseason, but head coach Kevin Stefanski said, "All of our starters should expect to play," per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal.

There is some uncertainty surrounding Watson's status heading into the game. The 28-year-old has been reportedly dealing with general arm soreness but is "feeling fine."

If the coaching and medical staff are confident enough to put Watson out on the field, they should. He has underwhelmed since joining Cleveland in 2022 and can't afford to be rusty come Week 1.

Watson has played in just 12 games due to suspension and injuries. This season seems like it's now or never for him to return to his 2020 form when he led the league in passing yards with the Houston Texans.

Offensive tackle Germain Ifedi

Starting left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. is on the physically unable-to-perform list after having knee surgery last December. Ifedi has been the Browns' starting left tackle in the meantime.

The 30-year-old has played in 102 career games with 83 starts, but he's never played left tackle.

That's why it was a surprising decision, given James Hudson III was the starting left tackle for most of camp. Hudson now has an ankle injury, and it's currently unknown how severe it is.

Ifedi will get his shot to prove he can be the opening-day left tackle if Wills is still unable to go, which is increasingly likely.

Wide receiver Jamari Thrash

Thrash has put together a couple of nice games this preseason, reeling in six catches for 68 yards. As a result, he earned some first-team reps during this week's practice.

However, he is hidden on the depth chart behind wide receivers Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore, Cedric Tillman, David Bell and Jaelon Darden.

Thrash's involvement in practice is promising, but it could have been because Cooper and Bell were absent.

Nonetheless, the fifth-round wide receiver has been progressing nicely and may be able to establish a role for himself in the offense with one last productive showing on Saturday.
