Here are three possible trade targets for AFC Contender Kansas City Chiefs into this year’s NFL Draft. The Chiefs need a wide receiver, and they’re going to do everything in their power to get one so they make a trade with a team on the first night. This would be the perfect opportunity for Kansas City to select the best available wideout but it might be difficult. They have the No. 32 pick in the Draft so this means most of the better prospects probably won’t be there at the end of the night.

One can speculate that the Chiefs could trade with a team that has an earlier pick but that isn’t the only option. If they want results now, they could trade their No. 32 pick to get an established wideout. The question is who would be willing to do that to make it happen? The Rashee Rice investigation is leaving the receiving corps with a glaring hole, especially since Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s departure.

Talking heads may wonder why the Chiefs should trade for a well-rounded receiver when there are available free agents still available. The option is there but Kansas City hasn’t had a legitimate wideout since Tyreek Hill departed for Miami. Chiefs were left with Valdes-Scantling while Travis Kelce and Rice were carrying most of the load. However, Rice’s future is up in the air since the league is determining how many games they will suspend him.

Fortunately, there are plenty of candidates out there that are looking to receive a big payday. However, they may make the exception to ring chase since they’ll likely join the Chiefs on a cheap deal. Kansas City doesn’t have the money for it but it’s still possible. Here are three possible trade targets for the Chiefs ahead of the NFL Draft

Three Possible Trade Targets for AFC Contender Kansas City Chiefs Into NFL Draft

Tee Higgins

Even though the Chiefs added Marquise Brown to help with the receiver room, they still need an option for the long term. Higgins sent shockwaves across the league when he requested for a trade back in March. However, he is anticipating to play for the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2024 season despite his request. The Bengals could want to select a wideout before the night is over if they were to trade Higgins.

Some may question why the Chiefs may not want to select Tyler Boyd, who’s still available in this year’s free-agent market. This could be a cheaper option but the Chiefs might have the chance to shock the league to trade for a receiver that will last a decade. However, the price could be cheaper than expected for Kansas City. Many fans saw this when the Chargers traded Keenan Allen to the Bears for a fourth-round pick.

Justin Jefferson

This is the type of trade that would be historic for not only the Chiefs but the NFL itself. It sounds like a dream scenario but if the Chiefs can pull this off then they would probably become unbeatable. However, it would take a lot of risk for Kansas City to give up some players and two first-round picks to make it happen. The league has seen Tom Brady with Randy Moss and Joe Montana with Jerry Rice so this trade could fortify the Mahomes and Jefferson duo for the next decade.

The Chiefs didn’t have any reliable receivers other than Kelce. So imagine what Mahomes can do with Jefferson alongside him.

Rashod Bateman

According to Washington Post’s Jason La Canfora, Rashod Bateman may become a trade candidate for the Ravens days away from the NFL Draft. However, he is expected to become a free agent next year if his fifth-year option is picked up. The Ravens may be exploring options around this receiver, especially if they’re looking to get something out of him before his departure. Bateman may say his goodbyes soon to join with their rival.
