Three teams that should trade for Shedeur Sanders

As expected, the Cleveland Browns will roll with Deshaun Watson as the starter for Week 1 at Jacksonville.

Shedeur Sanders will be his primary backup, with Dillon Gabriel and rookie Taylen Green also looking to make the roster.

This may be a somewhat disappointing turn of events for fans, given Watson's well-documented struggles, history of injuries and recent rant against Browns fans. 

That's why Sanders' camp might not want to be a part of this anymore. And if he forces his way out of the team, multiple organizations should have the Browns on speed dial.

Three teams that should consider trading for Shedeur Sanders

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already did well with a former Browns misfit, so why not make it two for two? They might lose Baker Mayfield in free agency anyway.

Mayfield's seemingly imminent departure and the lukewarm seat of head coach Todd Bowles might ultimately lead to a rebuild in Florida. Sanders could be the perfect bridge quarterback for that situation.

The Bucs have a solid offensive line and a plethora of pass catchers, and Sanders would get to develop behind an actual starting-caliber veteran for a year.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have their veteran in Kyler Murray, but there have been conflicting reports about him and how well he's handled Kevin O'Connell's offense.

J.J. McCarthy continues to struggle mightily in the preseason, and Carson Wentz can't be trusted to stay healthy or play well consistently. They might still need a QB2.

With Murray's history of injuries and an underwhelming corps of backups, Sanders can be O'Connell's next reclamation project and maybe even join the QB1 competition in 2027.

Miami Dolphins 

The Miami Dolphins are projected to have one of the worst records in pro football this season. Some of that has to do with their big questions at quarterback.

Malik Willis drew some praise and got a big payday after his two-year stint with the Green Bay Packers, but he barely got to play and throw the ball with Matt LaFleur's team.

The Dolphins should bring in some serious competition for the job, and Quinn Ewers isn't that guy. Maybe Shedeur can spice things up and give Willis a run for his money if he struggles in year one. 

Shedeur Sanders isn't a perfect prospect by any means, and he might still have a chance to take the reins of the Browns' offense at some point in the season if (when) Watson struggles.

That said, he's shown steady signs of growth this offseason, and with a team-friendly contract as a fifth-round pick in his second season, he's certainly worth the gamble.
