Three-time Pro Bowl CB Joe Haden retires following 12-year career

Three months ago, cornerback Joe Haden hinted that he may be returning to the Cleveland Browns, the team that selected him seventh overall in 2010 and where he spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career. According to multiple reports on Wednesday morning, Haden is indeed returning to Cleveland, but will soon be hanging up the cleats on his playing career.

The 33-year-old made his first two Pro Bowls with the Browns in 2013 and 2014 and signed a three-year, $27 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in August 2017. Haden then signed a two-year extension with the Steelers in September 2019 and earned his third and final Pro Bowl honor that season.

He was limited to 12 games (11 starts) during the 2021 regular season and finished with 38 tackles and six passes defended, plus six tackles in Pittsburgh's lone playoff contest.

Haden finishes his career with 615 combined tackles and 29 interceptions, while his 155 passes defended place him seventh on the NFL's all-time list.
