Zach Ertz to stay with Eagles?

Three-time Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz to stay with Eagles?

The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed tight end Richard Rodgers last month and may soon welcome the return of a second recognizable face at the position.

According to 94WIP’s Howard Eskin, three-time Pro Bowler Zach Ertz is expected to report for the start of training camp Tuesday. Ertz skipped the entire offseason program amid reports he wished to be traded or released, but Eskin notes the 30-year-old has been working out in the team facility along with teammates for close to two weeks and has a "great chance" to be on the roster through the beginning of the regular season.

"He’s over the issues," Eskin added about Ertz.

Ertz earned Pro Bowl nods each season from 2017 through 2019 but recorded only 36 receptions for 335 yards and a single touchdown across 11 games last year, the worst campaign, to date, of his pro career. Per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, the Eagles would save $8.5 million in salary-cap space by trading or cutting Ertz, who is in the final year of his contract

Along with Ertz and Rodgers, the Eagles have Dallas Goedert atop the depth chart at the position. Thus, it's possible the club could use some preseason action to showcase Ertz to would-be buyers before Week 1.
