As a part of the '2025 State of the Texans' event Monday at NRG Park, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans and General Manager Nick Caserio fielded a number of questions from fans in attendance.

One such question posed to Ryans, was about a player that has "impressed him the most with their offseason work so far." Ryans' answered by pointing out a three-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver the Texans acquired in free agency this offseason.

“One player - me and Nick [Caserio] was just talking about backstage - that has impressed me the most is Justin Watson, that receiver we picked up from Kansas City.” Ryans said.

“You see a guy like Watson, he’s in the building, like one of the first ones in the building, doing extra work. He’s staying later doing extra work. You just see the work ethic, you see how he’s picking up on the offense, you see how he’s communicating, and that’s a guy that’s really stood out to me.”

A fifth-round selection by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2018 NFL Draft, Watson is entering his seventh year in the league. He won his first Super Bowl ring with the Buccaneers, and his next two with Kansas City.

Last season, with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes slinging him the ball, Watson caught 22 of 32 targets for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Over the course of his career, he has compiled 87 catches for 1,322 yards and nine touchdowns.

Despite losing veteran wideouts Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods, the Texans return Nico Collins and added a number of receivers in addition to Watson this offseason. Houston acquired Christian Kirk in a trade with the Jaguars, and drafted former Iowa State teammates Jayden Higgins (2nd round) and Jaylin Noel (3rd round).

Watson and the other offseason acquisitions will get a chance to showcase their skills when the Texans begin the first of three OTA workout phrases on Wednesday, May 28.
