The Los Angeles Rams are familiar with postseason football under head coach Sean McVay, making the playoffs six times in his eight seasons in LA. Heading into year nine, they look set to be in the picture again thanks to some excellent off-season moves.
They also already have a strong roster, including a talented and experienced quarterback in Matthew Stafford. Many see him easily as a top ten QB in the league, but three-time Super Bowl winner Mark Schlereth believes he's in the top 5.
The former Denver Broncos offensive lineman believes he is the fifth-best quarterback in the league.
Speaking on FS1's show 'Breakfast Ball,' Schlereth spoke about why Stafford is in his top 5.
"So, this guy, unbelievable arm talent. His ability to look off defenders, the no-look pass, the arm angles, finding windows to throw from. I love watching Matthew Stafford play football. The sidearm, I mean, misdirection, eyes all over the place. Love the way this guy plays the game. He's my No. 5 guy."
The former Georgia Bulldogs player was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2009 and spent 12 seasons as the team's starting quarterback. During Stafford's time, he showcased his abilities and guided them to some success, despite not having the best rosters to work with.
He was part of a blockbuster trade with the Rams in 2021, which raised plenty of eyebrows as QB Jared Goff went the other way. Inheriting a good roster, the media and fans expected more from Stafford. He did just that, winning the Super Bowl in his first season under McVay.
He will be vital for the team in 2025 if they want to get back to the playoffs again, but if the offensive line keeps him safe, he will have a great chance of doing that.
