Three 'trade-down' draft options for the Philadelphia Eagles

The 2024 NFL Draft is nearly a month away, or as Eagles general manager Howie Roseman likes to call it, “Moving Day.”

Since taking the reins in 2010, Roseman has made eight trades involving first-round picks including one in 2018 that handed Lamar Jackson to the Ravens.

Here’s three prospects worth trading down for in next month’s draft.

1. LB Edgerrin Cooper | Texas A&M | Devin White alone cannot fix the team’s problems at linebacker. But White, Cooper and a healthy Nakobe Dean might. 

Cooper had 84 tackles (17 for loss) and eight sacks in a breakout 2023 season for the Aggies and seems to have the Eagles’ attention.

According to Jake Rabadi of Philly Birds Country, the team is quite interested in Cooper. His draft stock went up after outsourcing all linebackers at the NFL Scouting Combine but many still have Cooper going in the second-round.

2. DT Braden Fiske | FSU | Philadelphia drafted Georgia’s Jordan Davis 13th-overall in 2022 but haven’t gotten much from him. Davis played sparingly as a rookie and struggled with his weight in 2023.

Fiske transferred from Western Michigan to Florida State, where he had 43 tackles and six sacks last season. At the combine, he scored top marks for athleticism and finished third overall among defensive tackles.

He’s a bit undersized at 6-foot-4 and 292 pounds, but makes up for it with elite quickness and above average strength. He’d fit right in a rotation with Davis and Jalen Carter, the first of Philadelphia’s two first-round picks in 2023.

3. CB Cam Hart | Notre Dame | Starting cornerbacks James Bradberry and Darius Slay will be a combined 64-years-old at the start of the regular season and disappointed as part of last year’s 31st-ranked secondary. Hart has a second-round grade but has plenty to offer an NFL team.

At 6-foot-3 and 202 pounds, Hart has the size to handle NFL receivers. The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman added him to his “College football Freaks List” after he broad-jumped 11-feet-2 inches, vertical-jumped 38 inches and hit 23.01 MPH on the GPS last offseason. He also squatted 505 pounds.

Hart may not have blazing speed (4.50) but he held Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. to three catches for 32 yards when the two met in September. Bradberry and Slay aren’t known for their physicality, which could make Hart an asset for the team’s struggling defense.
