Time to Move on from Aaron Roderick

BYU needs to move on from Aaron Roderick after many failed play calls over the years, its time. Roderick has been the offensive coordinator for BYU since 2018. Those years have been with so many great players who are now in the NFL.

This should have come a long time ago, when he couldn’t win the bigger games during the independent era. He has called bad games and has poor time management throughout his entire time at BYU. This isn’t some little school that plays FCS teams every week or the Pac-12, which will give you games when the offense can’t win them. Yes, he has had some good calls here and there, but when you can’t beat a team you played twice in one season, is just flat out pathetic.

Aaron Roderick Coaching Career

Aaron Roderick isn’t built to coach at the college level; he has been fired time and time again. He needs to use his whole playbook, and he hasn’t, and then sets up the offense to fail. Roderick calls a timeout and then forgets that he needs to use it wisely. Those calls that have happened after a timeout usually lead to yardage lost, turnovers, or big stops. He has coached at BYU, Snow College, SUU, and Utah.

Kalani Sitake, you just signed a big contract that included your coordinators and the NIL. That is the future of this team, and Roderick shouldn’t be part of this conversation anymore. We have had players transfer on offense because of his poor play-calling. It’s time that his assistants and Sitake stop taking the fall, it’s his turn now. This loss today against Texas Tech just shows you that he can’t make adjustments or decisions that change momentum.
