Titans All-Pro RB Derrick Henry activated from IR, set to face Bengals

To steal from the popular Disney movie: The King has returned.

As had been expected for days, if not longer, the Tennessee Titans officially activated running back Derrick Henry off injured reserve Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday's home playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Henry was initially designated to return from IR on Jan. 5, but head coach Mike Vrabel understandably played it cool regarding the 28-year-old's status over the past couple of weeks as the bruising ball-carrier completed contact practices and tested the foot that he injured all the way back on Halloween.

When King Henry went down during an overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 31, he was serving as the NFL's reigning two-time rushing champion and leading the league with 937 yards and 10 touchdowns on 219 carries. More than a handful of analysts and fans named Henry the Most Valuable Player of the season's opening half, and Greg Brainos of Yahoo Sports noted Tennessee's RB1 is becoming a popular pick among some bettors to win Super Bowl MVP honors next month.

It's believed Henry will receive the bulk of the touches out of the backfield against Cincinnati and, thus, relegate replacement D'Onta Foreman to a rotational role until further notice.
