George Walker IV / Tennessean.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

The victim in the overnight explosion that leveled Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley's home in North Carolina has been identified as the player's father.

Authorities confirmed Tuesday to QCNews.com that Robert Matthews Farley, 61, died in the blast near Lake Norman in Mooresville, N.C. Another unidentified male was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Caleb Farley, 24, was not at home when the explosion occurred just before midnight local time.

He was on the scene Tuesday morning as aerial footage showed his 6,300-square foot residence reduced to rubble.

Iredell County director of fire services and emergency management Kent Greene said the cause remains under investigation.

Caleb Farley currently is on the physically unable to perform list. He played at Virginia Tech and was a first-round pick of the Titans in 2021.

He had multiple back surgeries in college and landed on injured reserve in 2022 for another procedure, a microdisectomy, after playing in nine games.
